BrAVA is an umbrella body representing
the voluntary and community sector in Brent.
BrAVA's aims and mission
The
Brent Association for Voluntary Action is a second tier organisation aiming to
help the voluntary and community sector in the borough of Brent to reach a high
level of sustainability and development. We provide help towards development
strategies that engage voluntary organisations to contribute to the community
and society in general. We also help them coordinate a voice to strengthen the
voluntary sector in Brent. We aim to represent the views of the sector to
statutory agencies.
What can we do for you?
BrAVA
has its own library and information resource for community and voluntary
organisations in Brent;
Access
to funding information; initiatives in Brent, Internet access;
BrAVA
publishes the monthly newsletter BrAVA News featuring content from volunteering
and community sector in Brent, news and events, funding and jobs, articles and
reports and so on.
BrAVA
also publishes its directory of voluntary and community organisations in Brent.
Here you can find almost all the organisations operating in Brent. The
directory is also available online.
We
provide regular training courses for voluntary and community organisations
working in the London Borough of Brent. We work closely with Brent Council
Voluntary Sector Support Team and other bodies to provide series of courses
that we hope will inform, educate and stimulate all those who attend.
We
provide development support for new and existing organisations, advice and
guidance on: 1) fundraising; 2) charity law; 3) personnel advice; 4) free
training; 5) quality assurance; 6) volunteering brokerage
We also
do joint working: 1) with other voluntary and community organisations;
2) with Brent Council, Brent NHS & other statutory & independent
bodies;
