BrAVA’s training sessions are aimed to voluntary and community organisations, their staff, trustees and volunteers. The training is delivered in partnership with experts in their areas.  We have an established rolling programme of courses, supplemented by one-off workshops, conferences and learning events.

If you and your friends have an idea for a community project and want to explore the possibilities you are welcome to this session.  The objective for the workshop is to review  models of partnership working and working in consortia within voluntary sector organisations working in health. The workshop will:
- Provide clarity as to the models of partnership and consortia working
- Offer an opportunity to discuss experiences of working effectively together
- explore opportunities of working in partnership and consortia

Are your finance skills up to scratch?  OCN-Accredited: Financial management training

This course has several modules and the objective is to provide your with the financial skills that your organisation needs. The ‘Six Steps to Better Financial Management’ is accredited through OCN Credit4Learning* and recognised by Government.

Fee: The cost for all the sessions is £210 in total.

Budgeting your project:  Date:      5 Oct.  Time:     9:45-4:30 Venue:   BrAVA

A one day course on how to prepare a small budget – important for grant applications and your own internal control.  What are direct and indirect costs, how to provide for contingencies and how to calculate salary costs? Learn to write a cashflow which gives a time horizon showing how long the organisation can survive on existing funding streams.  

Break-even analysis and understanding stepped costs will help you to consider how the volume of outputs affects the budget. conciliation

Working out your bank reconciliations: Date: 12 Oct. Time:      9:45-4:30 Venue:   BrAVA

Knowledge of the cash analysis book is assumed. Bank reconciliation checks the accuracy of your cash analysis book entries and bank statements. It is an essential part of accurate book-keeping.       

Monitoring your cash flow balance:  Date: 19 Oct   Time:  9:30-4:00     Venue:   BRAVA

The petty cash imprest system; choosing column headings; changing the size of the float; reasons why it does not balance; accounting for cash income and regular cash payments.

Implementing your bookkeeping system: Date:  26 Oct. Time:  9:30-4:00 Venue:   BrAVA

Learn how to produce a receipts and payments account from the book-keeping system, and compare it to the  budget, analysing variances and produce a statement of current assets and liabilities.

Preparing your financial report & Your income and your expenditure:

Date:  2 Nov. Time: 9:30-4:00 Venue:   BrAVA

You will learn how to turn a receipts and payments account into income and expenditure by bringing in accruals including, debtors and prepayments. This statement will analyse use of restricted funds.
